Time and frequency domain measurement methods for extraction of the power cable propagation constant R. Papazyan |
hree methods are presented for the extraction of the propagation constant of power cables. The first one is using a LCR Meter and provides measurements in the 20 Hz to 1 MHz frequency band. The second method is based on Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) and extracts the cable characteristics from 1MHz to 300MHz. S-parameter measurements with a Network Analyzer (NA) deliver the propagation properties for the frequencies between 300 kHz and 1.3 GHz. The extraction techniques are demonstrated for a single-phase 12 kV cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable. |
